Adventurous

So, the hiatus was because of Africa--I swear! ;)

For those of you who missed our return a couple Sundays ago where we recounted our 14 day trip half-way around the world, I thought I'd post a few of my thoughts and maybe a few of the more precious photos that were taken.

Many people have asked me, "How was your trip?" How in the WORLD am I supposed to answer that?! I usually give the short and sweet response of, "God is doing amazing things in Africa and I was so blessed to be a part of it!" For those who are more interested, keep reading :) I totally understand though, if you're not, because you weren't there getting your world rocked by the Lord. I also understand how it can get tedious or boring listening to every little adventure we had.

Anyway, if you're still with me, my 2 week trip to Guinea, West Africa and back was, well, life-changing. I traveled with a team of 9 from my church:

Paul and Jenn Prelle who lived in Guinea for over a year with their two small children simply following the calling of the Lord.
Their sister Laura who I found out is my age...I thought she was a few years older than me because, well, let's face it, I'm wicked immature :)

One of the strongest yet sweetest girls I know, Mihaela Champion:

A new friend and roomie :) Brooke Whitehead. This girl was a trooper and fit right in in Africa! She even had lots of marriage proposals!! (almost as many as me!! heehee)
My big brother and his daughter John and Brianna:

And of course, Alex and myself:

One of the biggest things I brought home with me is that the Lord simply calls each of us to be available for His use. None of us are "missionaries." None of us are rich or wise or brave. Mostly me! I am not a perfect follower of Christ. I sin. I fall short. However, the Lord was able to use the 9 of us and our AVAILABILITY to do some amazing things in Africa. All He calls us to be is USABLE. It was really humbling that the Lord would use me, a sinner, to take part in some amazing works going on in Mambia: two Bible schools are going to be built, several students were baptized, and several new people accept Christ over there in a fully Muslim village.

I'll leave on that note for now. When I feel up to blogging again, I'll get into more what we did on the trip :)
